They discussed the largest Luxembourg investment in Serbia, a factory for the production of graphene nanotubes used in the production of electric cars, ahead of its opening.

"This is a new page in the history of relations between our countries, the first major investment from Luxembourg, after Serbia firmly positioned itself on the investment map of Europe, breaking the record of 4.5 billion euros inflow of foreign direct investments. We welcome Luxembourg's decision to invest with us and we hope for new projects", Mali said at a meeting at the Ministry of Finance.

Mali told the ambassador that Serbia has followed its European path, which is also the path of the country's development in all sectors, including energy, education, green projects, and the development of infrastructure necessary for investors.

"All the efforts so far have yielded results, but we are moving on."

At the moment, nine highways and expressways are under construction, we have signed free trade agreements with important countries such as China, CEFTA, Turkey and so on, which also benefit investors, we are recording excellent macroeconomic results to which investors respond with further investments", Mali said.

He recalled that in 2027 Serbia will host the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO when it will host between 3.5 and four million visitors from more than 140 countries, that it is one of the fastest growing economies in Europe this year with GDP growth of 4, 3 percent, and that capital investments make up as much as 7.4 percent of GDP because Serbia opted for the Agenda of development and investments that bring further growth.

Minister of Finance pointed out that at the recently concluded meetings with the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington, the main topic was public debt, since the global debt reaches 93 percent of GDP, the debt of the Eurozone 88.1 percent of GDP, and that Serbia with the level public debt of 46.5 percent shows that it knows how to responsibly manage its public finances with large capital investments.

"We had good talks in America, we signed a new three-year arrangement with the IMF, which we need to support the implementation of further reforms, without withdrawing additional funds," said Mali.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia invited Luxembourg to present itself in Serbia at EXPO, now that it has become one of the investors in our country.

"The interest of Luxembourg is excellent news, thank you for recognizing the investment interest and our efforts to remain the regional leader in terms of investment level," Mali concluded.

His Excellency, Ambassador Hübsch, pointed out that this investment will encourage Luxembourg to be even more active in the future and to define all possibilities for continued investment in Serbia.

"It is evident that Serbia is not only waiting for its membership in the EU, but is working hard on development until that happens," concluded the ambassador.
