Vučić then visited the final works on the station building of the Railway Station in Subotica.

"Today, we crossed 108.1 kilometers of the newly built railway, which was completed a year ahead of schedule," said Vučić.

"It works smoothly, it looks very nice. We invested 40 million euros," said the President of Serbia, adding that we now have 12 stations, all of which are reconstructed or new.

"I have a big objection to this station, and that's why it won't be open within 5 to 6 days, the inscriptions will have to be changed. The inscriptions at the station are in Serbian and English, but the Hungarian language is missing, it must be in Hungarian, I like it whether someone likes it or not," warned Vučić.

"I am proud of everything we have done and no one will be able to take that away from us. This is a great success, huge money, we will have to invest in Banat. If we were to build from Pančevo, to Kikinda and further to Subotica, we would do a lot, but Sombor remains - Vrbas, 53 kilometers, to reach the high-speed railway," he added.

"I hope for extraordinary news for our country in the next 48 hours, Saturday morning at the latest," announced Vučić.

"When we ride in our trains, it will be like floating. 200 kilometers per hour, one hour and 10 minutes from the center of Belgrade to the center of Subotica. We did it faster than the Hungarians. This is very important for Subotica, as well as for the Hungarians living in Serbia In two years, it will take two years from Belgrade to Budapest, and an hour and a half from here," he pointed out.

"There is no waiting, we are rushing across the border. These are big things. If we do Horgos differently, if it gets the so-called green corridors with the European Union and the Hungarians, then it will be a great incentive for the further development of not only friendly but also fraternal relations with Hungary," he added .

"I am grateful to our Chinese friends because without them, their effort and work, we would not have achieved this speed of work. With the help of the Chinese, we finished this railway a year earlier. It will be opened on November 24, a year ahead of schedule," Vučić emphasized.

"After this, we will push Belgrade-Nis," he announced.

President of Serbia said today that the construction of a high-speed railway from Novi Sad to Subotica is a big deal for all of Serbia, and that he expects Hungary to complete its part of the railway in two years, when it will take two hours and 40 minutes to travel from Belgrade to Budapest.

During the test drive from Belgrade to Subotica, Vučić said that, after the connection with Budapest, Serbia expects further connections via Niš to Thessaloniki, as well as to Istanbul, but that for this it is necessary to secure money.

"With the construction of this railway, everything changes. With the connection to Budapest, we expect an increase in the number of tourists," said Vučić.

Speaking about the construction of the railway, Vučić said that everything was done according to the highest standards, that the railway was built in such a way that there would be no noise while driving and that the stations on the route were very well arranged. He reminded that people used to be against trains, they said that "an iron snake will destroy plum trees", just as they say today, as he added, that we will have "orange hair because of lithium".

Vučić stated that "we dream big dreams" and that we are realizing them.

Speaking about the financial situation in the country, he said that the public debt is currently 46.5 percent of GDP and pointed out that we must not destroy public finances, because we have been building them since 2014.

In the special test train were the Minister of Construction Goran Vesić, the President of the Provincial Government Maja Gojković, the Director of the Infrastructure of Railways of Serbia Jelena Tanasković, the Mayor of Novi Sad Milan Djurić, the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming, representatives of the Chinese contractor, as well as representatives of the media.

The newly built section of the high-speed railway from Novi Sad to Subotica, whose length is 108.2 kilometers, is in the testing phase and is expected to be open to traffic, as previously announced, from November 20 to 25 on the Day of Accession (Vojvodina to Serbia).

Then we will be able to get from Belgrade to Subotica by fast train in one hour and ten minutes. The high-speed train will be able to travel on the Novi Sad - Subotica line almost all the time at 200 kilometers per hour. The reconstruction of the station in Subotica was one of the most complex works for the Novi Sad - Subotica section of the Belgrade - Budapest railway modernization and reconstruction project.

The station in Subotica is located in the very center of that city and is divided into two parts: passenger and freight. It is also a hub on the border between Serbia and Hungary.

The works on the reconstruction of the station included the reconstruction of the freight and passenger terminals, as well as works on the replacement of tracks of six sidings.

A total of 23 kilometers of tracks and 113 switches were reconstructed.

By the way, the project of modernization and reconstruction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway is a project of cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and it is also the first project connecting Chinese railway technology and equipment with the technical specifications of European Union railway interoperability.
