The delegation of the Republic of Serbia is led by Jorgovanka Tabaković, Governor of the National Bank of Serbia and Governor of the Republic of Serbia at the International Monetary Fund.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali and his associates also took part in the talks.

The talks are being held on the occasion of the third consideration of the results of the standby arrangement approved by the International Monetary Fund for our country on December 19, 2022.

The mission of the International Monetary Fund, led by Donal McGettigan, will stay in Belgrade until March 26, and during the talks, the latest macroeconomic trends, economic prospects and risks, as well as key issues related to the implementation of the program will be discussed.

The second review of the implementation of the agreed economic program ended in December 2023 with the decision of the Board of Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund on its successful completion.

The IMF mission began its visit to Serbia

The IMF mission started its visit to Serbia today on the occasion of the third revision of the arrangement that our country has with that international financial institution, and the first meeting will be held at the National Bank of Serbia.

The IMF delegation in talks with representatives of the Central Bank and the Government of Serbia will be led by the head of the mission, Donald McGettigan. The plenary meeting of the IMF and National Bank of Serbia delegations is planned today at 9:30 a.m., the NBS announced.

In December 2023, the Board of Executive Directors of the IMF made a decision on the successful completion of the second review of the results of Serbia's economic program, which is supported by the standby arrangement, the National Bank of Serbia announced and stated that the excellent results enabled the standby arrangement of our country to be treated as an arrangement from precautions one audit earlier.

The IMF's Board of Executive Directors' positive assessment of the achieved results enabled the withdrawal of funds in the amount of around 400 million euros (316.53 million special drawing rights). Given the accumulation of a significant amount of reserves, the creation of fiscal space and the sustainable financing of the balance of payments, the arrangement will be treated as a precautionary arrangement for the remaining period (that is, without the intention to use the funds except in the case of the country's balance of payments needs), which is one revision earlier than was expected when the arrangement was approved, the NBS announced.

On December 19, 2022, the Board of Executive Directors of the IMF approved a standby arrangement for Serbia in the amount of about 2.4 billion euros (1.89 billion special drawing rights, i.e. 290 percent of our country's quota in the IMF), for a duration of 24 of the month.

Siniša Mali today with the IMF mission

A delegation of the Ministry of Finance led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Sinisa Mali will meet today with the Mission of the International Monetary Fund, led by Donald McGettigan.

The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Finance at 1:30 p.m., the ministry announced.
