Vučić on lithium: "Scholz provided Germany's support"; "We will fight for cleaner air and less pollution"
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, welcomed the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, who arrived in Belgrade last night, at the Palace of Serbia.
"Chancellor Scholz provided Germany's support for Serbia to have a larger value chain of lithium production, which brings us billions of investments and incredible progress for the entire country, and the biggest for western Serbia," Vučić said.
"Environmental protection standards must be respected to the highest degree, and our goal is to be a reliable partner to Germany and the EU in the lithium and battery production chain," added Vučić.
"I know with whom we talked and agreed, I know with whom we are signing the Memorandum of Understanding. We will also fight for cleaner air and less pollution and a better life for our citizens," Vučić said.
"We have already had talks and I can say that I am satisfied. It represents a great hope for Serbia, I am convinced that we will not miss this chance. There is an unbearable ease of missing good opportunities and this time we must not allow it. It is much more difficult to change things, the country, to accept challenges and make brave decisions. I often felt alone in the fight for this great project. I was as persistent as when I proposed the most difficult measures for Serbia, from the reduction of salaries and pensions, and today we are the most successful in the Balkans. When you have to do something and look to the future, then you make decisions in accordance with it. This is what we have been working on for a long time, I want to thank all members of Scholz's and my office", Vučić said.
