These sanctions were introduced back in June last year, but then a postponement of their application until March 26, 2025 was approved for contracts concluded before June 25, 2024.

The provision of technical support, brokerage services, financing or financial support for the transshipment of LNG is also prohibited in EU ports from today.

The authorities of the countries of the European Union can allow the transshipment of Russian liquefied natural gas if it is necessary for transport to a member state of the union and intended to meet its energy needs, reports Interfax.

Deliveries of Russian liquefied natural gas to the European Union have increased by five percent year-on-year to almost four billion cubic meters since the beginning of 2025, the European analytical center Bruegel announced at the beginning of this month.

In January and February, the European Union imported a total of 3.92 billion cubic meters of Russian LNG, which represents an increase compared to 3.74 billion cubic meters in the same period last year, TASS reported.
