I see but I dont agree :-) We will find 1000 reasons to continue with this spiral of violence. And all of it will make sense. But lets take a look at another exemple where a few real patriots sacrificed their careers by doing something for the good of all people by angering what appeared to be the majority.
Australia banned 1996 all guns after one of many massacres in their history. Did the people like it? NO. Was every politician foreced to resign who was involved? Yes.
But they did it anyway and now decades later no one talks about that anymore. You see, what we need in the balkans are patriots not nationalist. A nationalist loves his country in a destrucive self-fulfilling prophecy kind of of way. A nationalist will sacrifice everyone but himself. A true Patriot will secrifice him self for a greater good.

You are absolutely correct, but neither Serbia or Albania are Switzerland.
In 1912-1913 Serbian army performed expellings of Muslim Albanians in Kosovo, while Christian Orthodox Albanians and Christian Catholics Albanians were forced at bayonet point to convert to Serbian Orthodox faith and change their last names into Slavic ones. Years later, Albania retaliated the same way by closing Serb speaking schools and changing the last names of all Slavic speaking minorities.
It's a sad story in Balkans that ethnic minorities are not viewed as treasures but as punching bags to relieve the hate of neighbors who demand part of others state territories in the name of the same minorities.
Unfortunately today, the same game with peoples lives continues. Mr. Dacic plays tough with the Mr. Halimi even though he doesn't represent Albania, but only tax paying and law abiding Serbian citizens of Albanian ethnicity. I remember Dacic specifically refusing to meet with the Albanian prime minister though he had the chance two times on the last 6 months.

In Switzerland there is minority of about 30`000 people. They live south-east of Switzerland and the speak a language called Romantsch.
Not only do they speak and teach in romantsch but their language is also one of the 4 official languages of Switzerland. They even have their own airtime on on national TV.
I think countries in the balkans can learn a lot from this.

To be accurate, The US don't supply textbooks in spanish for the Spanish speaking American citizens and these minorities do not demand the state provide a public station broadcasting in a foreign language.

This is a bit different Mik than migrating to Australia or like me to US, these people never left just borders changed. Then by your theory then Serbs in Kosovo its all Albanian for them. Balkan borders have changed many times so all sides need to be accommodating and not use the past as excuse. In the age of internet you can make books neutral in both camps and let the kids figure our by themselves.
What would a 10year old Albanian Kid in Presevo think:
1. When I go to visit my uncle in (Peja, Gjilan ...) I pass a border and I show my Serbian passport.
2. When I go there I have to use Euros not Serbian Dinar.
3. Every where I go they speak Albanian
4. 95% say they are independent

I agree with what Dacic said. Albanian minority always ask "their rights" (same as their muslims brothers in France), but what about their obligations to their state where they live, work? What about albanians in south Serb province of Kosovo and Metohija, how they respect their state of Serbia? Albanians are arrogant. Serbs in Albania are prosecuted, their names were forcibly changed. Before Enver Hodza there was 100 000 Serbs in Albania. What happened with them? Serbs there have no rights. It's time we start to speak about their status and their autonomy within Albania.

The answer to the whole history problem in the Balkans is to treat it like religion in the US; keep it away from the children. Let them learn about Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, the US Civil War and so on but keep domestic history off the curriculum. Parents will imbue their children with their own prejudices irrespective of what teacher says.
It seems to me that this not within the scope of what a Foreign minister should be deciding. But then this is Serbia.
But the govt of Kosovo should be releasing a similar statement. That any textbook used in the Serbian schools must not make mention of Kosovo as a current province of Serbia, while it does not have to mention Kosovo as independent, they can be "status neutral" Serbs favorite phrase and not mention either.
There is no Serb minority in Albania. Serb speaking minority in Shkodra identify themselves as Montegrin, while in Kukes identify themselves as Gorani.
The only self identifying as Serbs are in a small village in Rreth Libofshe in Fier in South Albania which are all Muslims in their religion, coincidentally all other villages around them are all Albanian Christian Orthodox.

There is no Serb minority in Albania. Serb speaking minority in Shkodra identify themselves as Montegrin, while in Kukes identify themselves as Gorani.
The only self identifying as Serbs are in a small village in Rreth Libofshe in Fier in South Albania which are all Muslims in their religion, coincidentally all other villages around them are all Albanian Christian Orthodox.
According to most fanatic Serbs in this website, Muslims cannot possibly be Serbs. If mr. Dacic cares so much about Serbian minority in Albania he may want to notify his own embassy in Albania. The villagers of Rreth Libofshe declared themselves Serbs 25 years ago, yet not a single Serb diplomat has ever visited their town.
Well then Ivica, you better write your own, because the stuff Albanian children in Kosovo, Presevo, and Macedonia have been reading from books published in Tirana has been saying Kosovo's been independent for decades now.

I agree with what Dacic said. Albanian minority always ask "their rights" (same as their muslims brothers in France), but what about their obligations to their state where they live, work? What about albanians in south Serb province of Kosovo and Metohija, how they respect their state of Serbia? Albanians are arrogant. Serbs in Albania are prosecuted, their names were forcibly changed. Before Enver Hodza there was 100 000 Serbs in Albania. What happened with them? Serbs there have no rights. It's time we start to speak about their status and their autonomy within Albania.

To be accurate, The US don't supply textbooks in spanish for the Spanish speaking American citizens and these minorities do not demand the state provide a public station broadcasting in a foreign language.

This is a bit different Mik than migrating to Australia or like me to US, these people never left just borders changed. Then by your theory then Serbs in Kosovo its all Albanian for them. Balkan borders have changed many times so all sides need to be accommodating and not use the past as excuse. In the age of internet you can make books neutral in both camps and let the kids figure our by themselves.
What would a 10year old Albanian Kid in Presevo think:
1. When I go to visit my uncle in (Peja, Gjilan ...) I pass a border and I show my Serbian passport.
2. When I go there I have to use Euros not Serbian Dinar.
3. Every where I go they speak Albanian
4. 95% say they are independent
Kid to himself this is another country
So even though its Dacic or Serbian nationalist wet dream to stop information this is just pre pre election Balkan style ( all sides do it albanins, serbs, croats etc) bashing minorities.

Wrong, Serbia is an independent country and that is a fact not disputed by anyone. You can't saythe same about Kosovo.
Would you like half of your backyard taken by your relatives just because they didn't like to live with you and then tell you to get over it because they live in an independent country now? Apples and oranges.
So sad how education is so heavily nationalized in the region. It's more than just Serbia and Kosovo unfortunately. Look at Mostar schools where there are two curriculums, one for Bosniaks and one for Croats. Look at the Bosnia Federation and Republika Srpska, where often there are three curriculums entirely based on ethnicity. This is what happens when the best move to the west and all you're left with are villagers and corrupt nationalistic politicians.

You are absolutely correct, but neither Serbia or Albania are Switzerland.
In 1912-1913 Serbian army performed expellings of Muslim Albanians in Kosovo, while Christian Orthodox Albanians and Christian Catholics Albanians were forced at bayonet point to convert to Serbian Orthodox faith and change their last names into Slavic ones. Years later, Albania retaliated the same way by closing Serb speaking schools and changing the last names of all Slavic speaking minorities.
It's a sad story in Balkans that ethnic minorities are not viewed as treasures but as punching bags to relieve the hate of neighbors who demand part of others state territories in the name of the same minorities.
Unfortunately today, the same game with peoples lives continues. Mr. Dacic plays tough with the Mr. Halimi even though he doesn't represent Albania, but only tax paying and law abiding Serbian citizens of Albanian ethnicity. I remember Dacic specifically refusing to meet with the Albanian prime minister though he had the chance two times on the last 6 months.

The answer to the whole history problem in the Balkans is to treat it like religion in the US; keep it away from the children. Let them learn about Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, the US Civil War and so on but keep domestic history off the curriculum. Parents will imbue their children with their own prejudices irrespective of what teacher says.
In Switzerland there is minority of about 30`000 people. They live south-east of Switzerland and the speak a language called Romantsch.
Not only do they speak and teach in romantsch but their language is also one of the 4 official languages of Switzerland. They even have their own airtime on on national TV.
I think countries in the balkans can learn a lot from this.

Would you please point out the specific "mistakes" in Gjon Marku's post above. Or, do you fear exposing your own ignorance.
I see but I dont agree :-) We will find 1000 reasons to continue with this spiral of violence. And all of it will make sense. Deep rooted nationalism, years of brainwashing and of corse the wars and conflicts. But lets take a look at another exemple where a few real patriots sacrificed their careers by doing something for the good of all people by angering what appeared to be the majority.
Australia banned 1996 all guns after one of many massacres in their history. Did the people like it? NO. Was every politician foreced to resign who was involved? Yes.
But they did it anyway and now decades later no one talks about that anymore. You see, what we need in the balkans are patriots not nationalist. A nationalist loves his country in a destrucive self-fulfilling prophecy kind of of way. A nationalist will sacrifice everyone but himself. A true Patriot will secrifice him self for a greater good.
