Izetbegovic "wants unitary, sharia state in Bosnia"

I have to agree with Dodik on a lot of this. Most Bosnians of all groups have always just want to get on with their lives and live in peace.

Izetbegovic senior refused all compromise and insisted on taking BiH out of Yugoslavia without considering the wishes of a huge chunk of the population. Deals were on the table, like the Lisbon agreement, that could have averted war. He refused them all in pursuit of a state based on his Islamic calling, which most Bosniaks had no interest in!

His son has the same religious goals and the same ignorance of the wishes of the general citizens of BiH.

I would rather live under Sharia Law then under Chetnik Fascist Scum.

That's precisely what happened to your Croat brethren when they were forced to accept the "Muslim-Croat Federation" instead of their own Croat entity in Bosnia. They have been trying to change that ever since. The Bosnian Muslim leadership meanwhile has been trying to get rid of entities altogether. Only Serbs are content with the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Anyway, I am sure most Bosnian Muslims want to just live in peace. But Izetbegovic Jr. just like his daddy is having a hard time accepting RS because he feels NATO cheated Bosnia out of the same ethnic cleansing that the Croats and Albanians enjoyed. He has been trying to rectify that ever since.

I'm not sure what bakir wants but a sharia state is not going to happen as long as the majority of bosniaks oppose it. But it seems that dodik is playing his usual fear mongerimg game.

The state should support religious freedom, but oppose religious imposition.

No state should be a religious state.

States should be for the people - it is individual people who should choose their own religions.

Anyone who seeks to impose a religious state should be obstructed, boycotted, and if necessary fought.

Anyone who argues for a state that is for all the people should be praised, supported and if necessary - subsidised!

Bakir Izetbegovic has absolutely no interest in any form of Islamic state or Sharia law as most Bosniaks are well aware (as is Dodik). Bosnian muslims are incredibly relaxed about their faith with a small percentage regularly attending prayers and most of them being completely indistinguishable from non-muslims. Those posting on this article should ask themselves this: If Izetbegovic wants the sort of Bosnia that Dodik describes, a) why have the Americans not spoken out against him as they would surely do in those circumstances and b) why have Bosnians with no interest in an Islamic state or even religion at all voted for him in large numbers as their Bosniak member of the Presidency? This is a personal spat between Dodik and Izetbegovic and their noses grow longer all the time. (before anyone thinks to mention it, I am cognisant of the tract written by Izetbegovic senior in 1969. This did not include, as many believe, any mention of Bosnia as an Islamic state; read it if you wish to confirm this for yourselves. All Muslims would prefer that in an ideal world everyone was of their faith. All Christians would prefer that everyone else was a Christian. It is what one is prepared to do, if anything, to see this happen that is relevant not one's idealistic musings.

A. Izetbegovic's Islamic Declaration was republished in 1990.

Considering his WWII history and the kinds of people he hung out with like Cengic, those people still hold influential positions, they may not want an 'islamic state' per se (hello saudi funded King Fahd mosque mostrosity etc.), but certainly an exclusive one for themselves to lord over the whole of Bosnia in perpetuity with Croats, Serbs and others as third class citizens.

As I commented on the earlier article and others have pointed it out too, Fikret Abdic handily won the elections to be President of the SDA before the war, not Izetbegovic. Abdic may have been a bit of wideboy ('Agrokomerc', anyone?) but he would quite happily deal & negotiate with anyone willing to talk. Not at all Alija's style as the rest of Bosnia found out...

B. Izetbegovic would love to be a balkan Erdogan, but Sarajevo's handling of its own economy makes that a joke at best.

Please cite your references from recent times 1990-2015 not allusions to 1970-1980s when all Yugoslav brethren dribbled reactionisms. I haven't found any policy statement that supports Dodik's allegations. Whereas I can cite multiple examples of his deliberate strategy to undermine any attempt to provide a strong BH economy, a rule of law, secular state institutions and a unifying social platform. Not to mention a list of statements that places him and his associates as apartheid advocates and by association borderline war criminals by way of direct action, complicity and refusal to prevent criminal actions.
