I am all for same sex marriage and have always defended the rights of gays but what you wrote here is ridiculous.
Bringing single parents into the argument is a really bad idea.
For a start those children do have a mother and a father but they just don't live together. Both parents are usually in their lives.
If you want a strong argument don't throw ridiculous examples in there.

You've completed overlooked what I was saying.
His argument was that adopted children should have the right to a mother and a father. My argument was that isn't always going to be possible and it is better to have either one parent or two of the same gender instead of having no parents at all.
I also stated why should adopted children have the right to a mother and a father, but non-adopted children don't? Yes in many (and probably most cases) in Europe children of single parents do have a mother and a father in their lives, however this is not always the case. Sometimes one is deceased or the other has left before they were even born. Why should these children not have the right to both a mother and a father, but adopted do? What about children who live with their grandparents or aunts/ uncles?
My final point was, should single adults who live on their own be allowed to adopt? Considering his argument that gay couples shouldn't be allowed to adopt because they should have the right to both a mother and father.
