NATO offers "intensified dialogue" to Serbia

I will ask our Serbian friends to keep away from that club called NATO.Once you join you're compelled to fight the US multinationals dirty wars in various parts of the world.Furthermore,year
after year you're asked to spend a substantial percentage of your budget to finance the purchase of military hardware under the pretence of your defence requirements whereas in fact you help to maximise the profits of US defence industries.In short NATO means losss of your country's
sovereignty.

They just don't give up do they? How many times do we have to say "thanks, but no thanks"? For the millionth time in a row we DON'T want membership in NATO!

Leonidas, trust me we are trying hard but they keep on coming no matter how many times we say no. NATO doesn't take rejection well.

What is Serbia? Chopped liver? Anybody for a piece more? Serbia is expected to spread herself on a plate? She is for grabs? Off with that extended hand NATO? OFF!

Serbia doesn't need NATO! What would it be good for to join the military alliance which bombed serbian civilians, hospitals, bridges...?

There are actually two arguments which are discussed, let's consider them:
1. you have to be a NATO member for to join the EU

- False, several EU members are not members of NATO: Austria,Cyprus,Finland,Ireland, Malta and Sweden. Furthermore, there is no formal obligation for a EU candidate country to become member of NATO

2. Serbia cannot afford to defend itself

Is Belarus, Irak or North Korea threatening Serbia? Not as far as I know. A military agression to Serbia is more likely to come either from a neighboring state member of NATO, either from the alliance itself as this has already been the case.
I think it's a bad argument to say that you have to be a member of this alliance in order for not to be agressed by it.
Otherways you should also join a club of rapists for not to get raped...

Lets remind ourselves which countries border Russia? Lets also remind ourselves where American soldiers keep dying.

They are in no position to threaten Russia. America is nearing recession, losing two wars and its oil prices raising.

Yeah, NATO will do a lot. Just like half of NATO countries are neither in Iraq or Afghanistan even less will be in any attempts to challange Russia.

Brush up on your history as well as current affairs, before you come up with poor attempts at provocation.

You should join the Albanian army when Albania becomes a NATO member and volunteer to support your American heroes in their fight against your muslim brothers and sisters. I am sure they will give you special treatment when they capture you (you will be considered a muslim traitor and the rest you can imagine yourself). Or are you dreaming of parading in Moscow one day with NATO troops like Hitler and many others dreamt once? It is a very long walk to Siberia if you know what I mean. The centre of gravity of world politics and power is shifting east rapidly and NATO can never choke Russia or Asia. Russia can make life in Europe quite uncomfortable if really necessary by stopping the gas flow and then what are the US and NATO going to do? Besides this I support all good postings here that advice Serbia to stay out of NATO and the political parties that dare to put that in their election programs will receive lots and lots of support during the upcoming elections. The choice is clear and so is the outcome.

Nato is a US run military organisation that sucks other countries to join their wars. Nato bombed Serbia for over 2 months & killed innocent civilians and destroyed Serbia, now Nato wants Serbia to join them. Serbia does not need Nato.
