Nikitas great comparison Cyprus to Germany. The GDP section in CIA puts Germany 5th and Cyprus 113th. You are right the economy of Cyprus = Germany. I'm sure all those immigrants that are channeling towards UK and Germany will now change course towards Cyprus.

An irrelevant town-country of your (probably) size and with a 100 times better economical and political institutions.
What that makes you then?
An irrelevant village-country?

Besides, it holds 2 different vetos. What do you hold right now? :)

I like the way you support your facts. Cyprus economy didnt need the marcs (euros now) to enter the eu since its economy alone is more powerful compared to Germany, england etc in respect for its size and population.

How would the Cyprus respond to a proposal that should it recognise Kosova's independence there would be one Cyprus?
For me personally Cyprus is an irrelevant town-country.

The other thing Cyprus has in its banks are the millions of deutschmarks (now euros) taken from the Serbian people by the regime during the years of hyperinflation (93-94) in Serbia, when people were forced to sell all their hard currency. Allegedly...according to western journalists that is. I suppose that money was helpful to get in the EU.

Leonidas,
Greece has actually come out and made a statement:
On March 24 Deputy Foreign Minister Yannis Valinakis reiterated Greece's position in favour of achieving consensual and mutually acceptable solutions based on respect for international law, as a matter of principle. He said "Our positions are known. We support, if we are talking about Kosovo, the achievement of mutually acceptable solutions. Solutions that are found through dialogue and, of course, we will make our decisions at the proper time." President Karolos Papoulias said that "a solution for the future status of Kosovo must be mutually acceptable to both sides and in accordance with international rules and the UN charter" and that "the international community should allow as much time as necessary in order to achieve this".
Whenever the UN charter is mentioned, that is a big fat NO to illegal, immoral, and fake state of Kosovo. I agree with you though, I wish teh Greek government would have used stronger language.
As for Cyprus, they simply can not recognize Kosovo, ever, it would be tantamount to recognizing North Cyprus as separate state.
On another good note, the Czech government may have found its soul!
'Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek says that Czech Republic postponed the 2 April deadline for recognition of Kosovo indefinitely due to objections from President Václav Klaus and Topolanek's ruling Civic Democratic Party party, coalition partner Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party and the opposition Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and Czech Social Democratic Party.'
Let's hope they stand up to German-American pressure and bullying, and remember what happened to their Sudetenland not too long ago.
Cheers!

Lol...
Smart Enis.

No, they cant put any kind of pressure on them, because simply Cyprus was never in the sphere of influence by the usa. It was and still is a free country and thats how their decisions are taken.

But.
Have in mind that Christofias is the newle elected President of Cyprus, and he has initiated new talks with the turk-cypriot community towards a solution to their problem. Now see it this way:
This is the way the Cypriots have to put pressure on the international community for the solution to their own problem, instead of the other way around. Christofias is - in my opinion - the one that will bring a solution to Cyprus, and this move is one first decisive step.

Cyprus doesn't recognize Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence, says Cypriot President Dimitris Christofias.

“The one thing that Kosovo and Cyprus have in common, as far as the situation in these regions is concerned, is that in both cases, the basic principles of international law and legality, as well as UN decisions, are constantly being violated,“ the Cypriot president said

A very honourable position taken by a small country.Iam proud of the Greek Cypriots and I wished the goverment of Greece could come out and
make it clear that they will never recognise the partition of Serbia.
