No more than one decade ago, the US was a valued economy & respected super power. The entire world is waiting to see who replaces the embarassment of bush - hopefully it will not be another clinton as we can't deal with that again.

As far as the article in general - who really cares what the US has to say? Their credibility is in the toilet today.

What a difference 10 years makes!

Ron

Bush will force Kosovo out of Serbia. And then will tell Taiwan to stay in China!

Is this a joke or something?

Kosovo will be a huge predendent!

Do we really want more unrest in Bosnia, Caucasus, Sri Lanka, Spain, Belgium?

UK is just sore since they lost Northern Ireland and Scotland just declared independance. I won't even mention Hong Kong. How humiliating. British finally found somebody weaker then UK.

Without Serbia's agreement, an 'independent' Kosovo will still be within Serbia's borders.

It will be a 'boil on the bum' which will endanger the politics of the region for many tens or hundreds of years.

The best future is an agreed and negotiated future based on cooperation and agreement.

I think even the US is beginning to realise this, although the UK seems to be behind in its thinking.

Certainly 'independence' will negate any obligations on Serbia over 1244 - I doubt too that the intervention forces will want to support Kosovo for long into the future if independence is declared without their permission.

Given that Kosova is such an emotional issue for the Serbs it is hardly surprising that Mr. Kesic would interpret things by looking on the bright side - for the Serbs. An Albanian would do exactly the same.

Nevertheless there is some truth to what he is saying. The US is distracted by events in the Middle East at the moment for it to be too much attention to Kosova and it has passed much of the responsibility on to Europe. In Europe itself (the EU) there are three schools of thought on Kosova.
One - Spain, Cyprus etc - holds that it should not receive independence. The second - led by Holland - says that Kosova deserves independence but it would not do to grant it independence because it's economy it would not be a viable state. The third led by the UK and France - and maybe, just maybe, Germany - says that supervised independence is the only solution. However all three schools are faced with one simple fact: the K-Albanians do not care about Hollands calcualtions on Kosova';s viability so how in the world can anyone give Kosova back to Serbia without causing a big, big mess in the whole region? And on that point all agree: allowing Serbia back into Kosova would be the sure way of guaranteeing a new war or conflict whose consequences would be impossible to predict.
The most likely scenario is that Kosova will declare independence, thus presenting the EU with a fait accompli and part of the Northern part of Kosova would then secede, i.e partition followed by a Serb blockade of the rest of Kosova. A new status quo would thus be established and in a few years we could move ahead from there. And I think that is what the Serb govt is playing at too, because no Serb politician in his/her right mind would ever dream or want to have Kosova as part of Serbia again.

Cvele, America should not go into war with Iran. In fact, I hope gallon of oil over here reaches 8$ so that America can finally be off this oil choke-hold; a praise to Europe for high tax on oil. Lesson learned.

The title of this "news" itself is so stupid. USA is the promotor of Independence for Kosova since the Russians were cheering their drunken Yelcin. Someone is trying to be smart and create fictious events. That is so cute, isn't it?

Yeah, what a surprise! A serb ‘analyst’ reviving even the slightest doubt of serbs, that US would recognize the unilateral decision of Kosovo for declaring the independence. But that's fine. Politicans from both sides are comforting their people based on their interest, and you can go on and spend time on these kind of comments but i doubt any of you is right with your 'analysis'. Nobody knows the definite outcome of negotiations, so please save yourselves and your presious time from writing ridiculous comments and focus more in improving your inter-relations. Good luck to every party.

Why should I feel desperate? Kosovo is not my country. I am just hopeful that all Albanians from Kosovo will never be again under Serbian rules, regarding what they have gone through between 1990 and 2000, until NATO set them free.

I hope that by Dec. 10th, they will be independent.

no, like it or not, there is something true in this article, the US have other interests, that at least for a reasonable viewer, should be more important to them.

so, after all, I wouldn´t count too much on them, if I were an Albanian!

Kesic told us nothing new. He has just reworded previous US declaration with a bit of assertiveness in order to suit Serbian politicians claims. This should not discourage K-Albaians for their clam for freedom and right for Self-Determination.
It is known what EU will decide so US is going with that decision. US is doing this in order to make it look as if EU has decided and is united behind the decision Serbian politicians are once more on the loosing side before the final one that will come with Presevo, Bujanoc, Medvegja and Vojvodina secession.

I just wonder how are failed Serbian politicians going to accept this. Usually polticians are aware before the people of the future political decisions but this time again in Serbia people are more mature and more aware of the situation that the politicians seem to be.
This comment of Mr.Kesic is to be seen as one of many comments made by Serb paid analyst
