as citizen of Austria I feel ashamed - because family Zogaj is just one of many examples. in 2006 more than 4.000 people where deported from Austria the same way! on the other hand more than 300.000 Austrians live freely abroad in search of their fortune. what a cynical contradiction. as an European citizen I feel ashamed about comments from people seeing everything just from their nationalistic and etnical point of view. such simple minded people, groups and nations should proove first that they can stand on their own feet without joining the EU.

This family are economic migrants Nato is in control of Kosovo and they claim its now free of serbs so this family can have all the emptiness to themselves. Once these type of people are granted any type of status abroad, they always return on "holiday" to the country of thier origin. Most of the socalled Kosovars have turned out to be Albanians from whereelse ALBANIA..

It would be a greatest tragedy if this family was Serbian and forced to go back to Kosovo enclaves.

Serbs are always the biggest victims. Kosova government spend thousands and thousands of euros building those homes in those "enclaves" while Albanians are left to starve.

Ruben is right. If English, French or other EU citizens can pick and chose where to live, so should other nations of Europe from the Balkan region. The ECHR is becoming universal.

“ECHR” Article 8 states that “everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home, and his correspondence." The fact that this family has established their life in Austria and lived there for over five years, article 8 comes into play “Your home is where you currently live.”

Agim, don’t be harsh on them. I accept your point that this family would not face any form of discrimination if returned to Kosova, however, their rights would certainly be breached if they were forced to return.

Hopefully the Balkans will soon join the EU and provide shelter to poor refugees.

Dear Lids doesn't it strike you as strange that somehow everything appears to be the greatest tragedy where Serbs are involved?

To teni - I know we're all butchers. Please prior to posting such ridiculous claims, check what's occurred at the hands of the invaders.

Also, as "children" are far more advanced today than 10 years ago, I still find it quite questionable that a 15 year old would take tranquilizers as well as at the same time have the ability to pen a note on her feelings......perhaps she had some help.

this is a bit far fetched.

Dear Teni..
You can thank your lucky stars that 9/11 did not happen in the 90.Wouldn`t Serbian story have happier ending. That albanian family has somewhere to go and be free,if that was Serbian family they would have modern day concentraiton camp sponzored by NATO and UMNIK and enforced by free Albanians.

As for this Kosovo family, who or what were they seeking asylum in 2002? NATO by then had made the province safe for everyone, right? This reminds me of the 10's of 1000's of Albanians from Albania that sought asylum in Britain, claiming to be from Kosovo. Their were certainly people more deserving that were being slaughtered in Africa, than these people just seeking better economic standards.

In my country, there's lots of refugees from Balkans, albanians, serbians, bosnians, etc. Im' fine with that, if a person needs help, why shouldn't we help? The thing that bothers me is that some of these "refugees" actually go on vacations in their place of origin(ie. Kosovo,Bosnia). If the place is safe enough to spend your vacation in, why do you need refuge from another country?!? I think reasons for not returning are mainly economical. It really isn't fair for others who actually need help. These leechers stay here because the money is better, even though they are not in imminent danger anymore. There by taking somebody elses place whose life is in jeopardy. What I'm saying is, if you come as a refugee in fear of your life, welcome. But, when the conflict is over, you should go back to your own country and try to make it a better place for everyone, including yourself...

People should be free to live where they want.
Be them Albanians or Serbs, if they don't want to go back to Kosovo, don't force them.
Close your borders if you want and let nobody in, but if they are already in, be prepared for them to stay.
People live only once and everyone wants to live it properly.

The Austrians should continue the deportation of this family. Since the reason now is merely economical, they forfeit their political assylum status. This family needs to understand the reason they were granted assylum in the first place and that was for the situation that Kosovo was in five years ago. Now that things have changed, they must come to terms with reality. The fact that there are no jobs doesn't qualify for special assistence nor refuge. There are many law abiding Austrian citizens who neither have work or a bright future whose tax money has been spent supporting this family.

I would say to Austrian govermant deport entire family to Kosova. I don't care what the youg girl said. If she does not know anything about kosova than she can stay on her own on the streets of Vienna.
