See, this is the reason why people like Ceku should only be allowed to enter a house of government as a tourist with a camera, and not as a leader. He needs to learn how to play by the rules, or not play at all. If we're supposed to believe that his government can manage Kosovo better than Serbs, then the first thing he needs to do, as leader of one of the most underdeveloped regions of Europe is to start following the rules of the game. If I start playing American football when everyone else is playing European football, I'm going to be disqualified.

The legalist Europeans have come across a Russian and Chinese stone wall in the UNSC.A new formula must be presented by the EU which deals with LONG term stability in all of Europe.Kosovo is just one of many areas needing autonomy but secession cannot be endorsed regardless of past history and who did what to whom.5 of the 7 CEFTA countries have separatist movements and they all must be dealt with uniformly or else you will have chaos.If the Greeks and Turks are ancouraged to reconcile after their bloody past then any 2 other groups(Slavs and Romanians in Moldova,Muslims and Serbs and Croats in Bosnia,Macedonians and Albanians etc.)should also be encouraged to do the same under a European tent.The fate of Europe cannot be held hostage by threats and blackmail by any one group.

Reality check - Agim Ceku is a KLA terrorist who is now wearing a suit, he should be in jail in any normal society, but in UN run Kosovo, he is actually an elected leader and the man that albanians look up to. I don’t think many of us care if Serbian soldiers are stationed in Kosovo or not, as long as our population there is safe. Everyone here keeps telling you guys that we support autonomy and the right for you to rule yourselves in Kosovo. That is exactly why the Serbian government supports maintaining the status quo for now, we can live with the current situation. If you believe Kosovo is already independent, then what is the big hurry? Why all the concerns over possible violence and Albanians losing patience? Why not maintain the status quo forever then? We're cool with it, and you all seem to believe its independence.
You try to claim Kosovo is already "independent", well I can make just as strong an argument that Kosovo is already "partitioned".
Many of you make the claim that because of humanitarian reasons that Kosovo should be independent. I say that the ratio of Serb victims to Albanian victims mirrors the population exactly and that the Albanians were the last ones to engage in violence (twice in fact) so we have just as much right to partition Kosovo based on humanitarian grounds as you do in asking for Independence.
All Ceku will accomplish by side stepping the UN is partition. If he so chooses to do so in that fashion, the end result will be to set back Kosovo's entry into the EU and scare off investors. We must work together in order to find a lasting peaceful solution that will not set a negative precedent in how these issues are handled in all the other countries facing very similar problems. We must show the international community that we both have the political maturity to be considered positive influences on the EU as a whole. If we do not, it will spell the end of the EU at some point in the future.
The fact is 50% of the Serbian population do not support joining the EU if it means giving up Kosovo. The International Community should seriously consider this.

If Kosovo stays part of Serbia it would fall under the Serbian governments formula "more then autonomy, less then independence" and the most likely outcome of this would be something like the Aland Islands in Finland. Those islands are a Finnish province where over 90% of the population is Swede, they are demilitarized entirely, have their own police, most Finnish laws do not apply their (they have their own laws), it also has some degree of autonomy in international instituations (something Kosovo would have to a larger degree if it were to stay part of Serbia). Now using your logic these islands are not part of Finland, but everyone knows that due to international law that has existed since the treaty of Westphalia they are.

Ceku is not a politician and should never be taken seriously. He is an ex-army officer, and probable war criminal. He was set up by the US, because he was the safest and most reliable person to follow their orders. Otherwise, I'm sure they would turn him over to the Hague. There are arrest warrants out for him. Due to the Ahtisari plan, Kosova will have it's armed Security Forces. Remember the taxes that 100% are going to Kosova budget (non to the Serbian), School curriculums different from Serbia and similar to Albania.
