Hamas doesn't care about civilians. Civilians are being used as human shields, and not being allowed to cross into Egypt. What did Hamas think is going to happen after attacking Israeli civilians brutally?

Why should they head to Egypt? There is a whole wide border going into Israel.
The US would like them to go there as would Israel because they know they would destabilize Egypt this way.
Egypt isn't in the best financial position so imagine 2 million refugees going there. They simply can't afford it and it would damage them.
This is punishment for applying to BRICS.
Also aid trucks waiting at the Egyptian border with Gaza were told they will be destroyed if they attempt to cross into Gaza. Food, water and medicine is denied to two million people. They either cross to Egypt and collapse Egypt or they die.
