Russia is the only country that has killed it own Generals for displeasing Putin, though several Russian Generals have been killed in combat and a few Russian officers including a Colonel and General have been shot in the back by their own troops.

The Russians have a very long standing tradition where senior officers are seen amongst their troops so you hear colonels being killed because they are leading their soldiers unlike the western military leadership where the officers sit in bunkers while NCOs and enlisted go out and do the fighti9ng.

Its war and these things happen. The Ukrainians have lost General Valerii Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s Chief of the Armed Forces, to a missile strike also.

There's going to be a whole lot more dead Russian generals (dead Russians in general) before the end of Russia's little adventure in Ukraine. It's normal. For them people and casualties are just numbers.
