The Ustashe are not dealing with their past but see their “rich” Croatia going down the sewer fast and the EU will not bankroll them again out of this financial quandary as Brussels is having serious monetary problems itself. As Serbia is reindustrialising Croats now look for ways to get Serbia to throw crumbs to them in the form of work so they pretend to make amends. That Milanovic is a cockroach who looked for relatives who were in the Ustahe during the war so he could get elected President.
The first earthquake in Croatia is estimated to cost €5.5 billion, but these are tentative costs and the final bill tends to be higher and more like over €6 billion. Then the Coronavirus hit and that has destroyed tourism for 2020 and 2021 since the same numbers of people are unlikely to travel for the next two to 3 years.
Then a second earthquake hit and that will add millions onto the mountainous repair bill.
Prior to the start of this mess Croatia was about 75% of GDP in debt. All moneys from now on will have to be borrowed plus the funds the Croat Government bandies around about the EU helping out the economies of EU members are actually all LOANS, but Zagreb tries to pass this off as coming from the “EU Fund” which is utter BS.
I can foretell what Serbia will do for Croatia - Nothing. Never save rats, let them drown.

Finally Croatia is dealing with its past. Better late than never. The current Croatian leadership has realised that this really needs to be dealt with for the country to move on and attract new investments into the country. They see the big influx of companies into Serbia who are not even a EU member.

A step in the right direction but too late. Many of the documents were destroyed during the Yugoslav civil war by Croatian right wing extremists who are trying to hide the numbers killed in Jasenovac. There will be no reconciliation until Croatians acknowledge the numbers which according to Yad Vashem institute are over 750 thousand Serbs, Jews, Gypsies and Croats were killed by the Croatian Ustase between 1941-1945. This included children as well who were also interned in the Jasenovac camp.

I very much doubt that anything will change. Croatia will keep these events low key. Croatias horrific nazi past needs to be exposed to the world, similar to how the Jews have exposed nazi Germany.
Schools need to teach kids of Croatias past and an apology from the people and government needs to be aired loud and clear.
Murdering approx 1 million men, women and children is by far the biggest genocide in the history of the Balkans. This must never happen again.
But I fear that many Croats do not care. In fact they were happy to cleanse up to 300,000 civilians in 1995. Amazingly they seem proud of this and celebrate the event each summer. How sick is that. And Germany and the EU keeps quiet.
Shocking and shameful.

Franjo Tudjman, the Ustashe neo-Nazi whose name is ridiculously used by the Zagreb airport, famously said during his 1990 election campaign “Thank God, my wife is neither a Serb nor a Jew“.
