The train was an unbelievable provocation that had to be approved at the highest levels of Serbian government with full knowledge of the likely outcome. Claiming that a country with a different culture, language and religion is a part of Serbia is an hallucination.
When Crna Gora left Serbia -- based on population, economy and employment, Crna Gora had about as much qualification for becoming in independent country as Detroit. But due to Serb intolerance of other populations, the leadership determined that any non-Serb option was better. Vojvodina is likely to come to shortly come to the same conclusion.
Serbia needs to recognize that the only folks that want to be governed by Serbia are folks that consider themselves to be ethnic Serbs. And, based on recent military success, the Serbian military is not likely to prevail in a conflict – especially against an opponent with an Albanian mindset.

I am amazed. This should have been a celebration of what can be achieved with the use of calm, reasonable dialogue. Was there really a need to daub the train in such provocative messages? It is not a case of having a political opinion one way or the other. It is more a case of making progress one step at a time. The statement by the PM that "wisdom preserved peace" is somewhat out of place. Whilst not wanting to denigrate much of what has been achieved by this government, I have to say that wisdom would have been better used by ensuring that the resumption of the train connection could have passed peacefully without any politically motivated propaganda. Would it not have been better to celebrate progress rather than inviting argument? Hopefully now, all involved will take a step back, stop all the inflammatory rhetoric and think about the normal citizens caught up in the day to day realities of this situation. Don't allow a few seemingly illogical individuals unnecessarily create unneeded tensions. Surely now is a time for pragmatism? Come on politicians, let's see if you can truly represent the feelings of the majority on both sides of this debate. Keep calm, sit down and enter into a reasoned dialogue.

I'm sorry but I have to be honest and say this was a completely ridiculous and unnecessary "stunt" pulled by authorities in Belgrade, and I use "stunt" because that's exactly what it was: not any sort of normal re-establishment of a train line that would have been met with indifference had it been agreed on at Brussels as everything regarding the nature of dialing codes needs to. Rather, the train was lined with kitchy visuals that made it look like a mobile monastery than a train by the description and intent, which would naturally provoke some sort of response from the Albanian side that responds to the slightest infraction of what it sees as its turf.
What is more, Thaci & Co were almost certainly pressured to respond from threat of their own nationalist nutballs that would have gone ballistic if the train arrived in KM.

I'm sorry but I have to be honest and say this was a completely ridiculous and unnecessary "stunt" pulled by authorities in Belgrade, and I use "stunt" because that's exactly what it was: not any sort of normal re-establishment of a train line that would have been met with indifference had it been agreed on at Brussels as everything regarding the nature of dialing codes needs to. Rather, the train was lined with kitchy visuals that made it look like a mobile monastery than a train by the description and intent, which would naturally provoke some sort of response from the Albanian side that responds to the slightest infraction of what it sees as its turf.
What is more, Thaci & Co were almost certainly pressured to respond from threat of their own nationalist nutballs that would have gone ballistic if the train arrived in KM.
So what was Toma expecting? Unless the main objective was to provoke the expected reaction by Pristina?
And since the passengers who intended to go to KM arrived anyway via bus, the "freedom of movement" was never in question.
I don't know what Vucic intended with this, but was totally stupid and every Serb I know is either laughing hysterically or shaking their head in bewilderment.

How many times one needs to explain who started wars so that you can figure it out? War started when Croatian separatists took guns against legal army JNA. Same thing in KosMet. We are not military defeated, not in any war. NATO mad us a promise that it will destroy us within 72hours. After 78 days they saw how many tanks and equipment Serbs have. If BG was serious about restarting a rail line from Belgrade to Kosovska Mitrovica, not only would they seek EU support, but the train would just look like an ordinary train - you know, like what one can find in normal, ordinary countries.

The train was an unbelievable provocation that had to be approved at the highest levels of Serbian government with full knowledge of the likely outcome. Claiming that a country with a different culture, language and religion is a part of Serbia is an hallucination.
When Crna Gora left Serbia -- based on population, economy and employment, Crna Gora had about as much qualification for becoming in independent country as Detroit. But due to Serb intolerance of other populations, the leadership determined that any non-Serb option was better. Vojvodina is likely to come to shortly come to the same conclusion.

Who is the genious behing this provocation. Why would Kosovo allow this train on its own territory. From all the problems that Serbs and Albanians face they have to argue for an issue which benefits noone. Shame on the Serbian politicians for being insensitive and devious to its own people. I am amazed. This should have been a celebration of what can be achieved with the use of calm, reasonable dialogue. Was there really a need to daub the train in such provocative messages? It is not a case of having a political opinion one way or the other. It is more a case of making progress one step at a time. The statement by the PM that "wisdom preserved peace" is somewhat out of place. Whilst not wanting to denigrate much of what has been achieved by this government, I have to say that wisdom would have been better used by ensuring that the resumption of the train connection could have passed peacefully without any politically motivated propaganda. Would it not have been better to celebrate progress rather than inviting argument? Hopefully now, all involved will take a step back, stop all the inflammatory rhetoric and think about the normal citizens caught up in the day to day realities of this situation. Don't allow a few seemingly illogical individuals unnecessarily create unneeded tensions. Surely now is a time for pragmatism? I am amazed. This should have been a celebration of what can be achieved with the use of calm, reasonable dialogue. Was there really a need to daub the train in such provocative messages? It is not a case of having a political opinion one way or the other. It is more a case of making progress one step at a time. The statement by the PM that "wisdom preserved peace" is somewhat out of place. Whilst not wanting to denigrate much of what has been achieved by this government, I have to say that wisdom would have been better used by ensuring that the resumption of the train connection could have passed peacefully without any politically motivated propaganda. Would it not have been better to celebrate progress rather than inviting argument? Hopefully now, all involved will take a step back, stop all the inflammatory rhetoric and think about the normal citizens caught up in the day to day realities of this situation. Don't allow a few seemingly illogical individuals unnecessarily create unneeded tensions. Surely now is a time for pragmatism? Come on politicians, let's see if you can truly represent the feelings of the majority on both sides of this debate. Keep calm, sit down and enter into a reasoned dialogue.

I'm sorry but I have to be honest and say this was a completely ridiculous and unnecessary "stunt" pulled by authorities in Belgrade, and I use "stunt" because that's exactly what it was: not any sort of normal re-establishment of a train line that would have been met with indifference had it been agreed on at Brussels as everything regarding the nature of dialing codes needs to. Rather, the train was lined with kitchy visuals that made it look like a mobile monastery than a train by the description and intent, which would naturally provoke some sort of response from the Albanian side that responds to the slightest infraction of what it sees as its turf.
What is more, Thaci & Co were almost certainly pressured to respond from threat of their own nationalist nutballs that would have gone ballistic if the train arrived in KM.
So what was Toma expecting? Unless the main objective was to provoke the expected reaction by Pristina?
And since the passengers who intended to go to KM arrived anyway via bus, the "freedom of movement" was never in question.
I don't know what Vucic intended with this, but was totally stupid and every Serb I know is either laughing hysterically or shaking their head in bewilderment.
Again, totally unnecessary in the way it was undertaken.
I see nothing other than a deliberate provocatice act in painting such a message over the train. Quite right that it was stopped.

No argument this time. You're absolutely right and most Serbs see this as a kitschy circus. If BG was serious about restarting a rail line from Belgrade to Kosovska Mitrovica, not only would they seek EU support, but the train would just look like an ordinary train - you know, like what one can find in normal, ordinary countries.
If the only objective was to provoke a response in order to collect information on the movement of paramilitary within KiM, then the timing and manner it was undertaken were planned perfectly.

That is also a possibility, which means that this entire train spectacle was some sort of move in a larger strategy. I've no doubt Belgrade will take up these complaints with the EU at the next meeting and use it as leverage of sorts.
1) According to this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_Kosovo , there are 114 countries that recognise Kosovo independence. The rest of the countries have sympathy for Serbia.
2) RUSO is not a military force but a legitimate special police force. I would suggest not messing up with them. They are ruthless against Albanians too.
3) In regards to re-establishing rail link services between Kosovo and Serbia, it's a great idea, however method chosen to implemented is really poor.

Who thought that it was a good idea for Serbia to send a train to a neighbouring territory covered in logos claiming that territory as their own? You know, there is a big difference between saying Kosovo is Serbia and Kosovo is Serbian. Serbs are proud of their heritage just as Albanians are of theirs and pretty much all peoples are across the globe. So, there was a train heading to Kosovo, Serbia's heritage spot, why not have it colored proudly in Serb colors. It's not as if Albanians across the globe don't hold their flag proudly. In fact, when seeing pictures from Kosovo itself, I see more Albanian flags than Kosovo flags. So, let us not pretend that this ROSU action had anything to do with what was on the train. It was Kosovar Albanians fearing Serb movement in Kosovo. This has to be solved. The world doesn't need a third world war. If we have one, nobody will win.
