"World Shadow Government" group meets in Belgrade

The three-day meeting, bringing together members of the global economic and political elite, will be closed to the public, which spurs even more curiosity regarding the participants and the topics of the 38th Trilateral meeting which for the first time takes place in Belgrade.

The Trilateral Commission's official website offers no information about the Belgrade meeting. According to media announcements, the meeting will be opened by European chairman and former head of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet, and the participants will be welcomed by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić.

Chairman of the Trilateral Commission's Serbian National Group Jovan Kovačić told Tanjug that he expects the meeting to be well-attended, adding that the entire Serbian government and the regional leaders were invited.

Speaking about the influence of the Trilateral Commission, chairman of the organizing board Tahir Hasanović said that it has had a significant impact on global financial and economic developments for more than four decades, as its members are distinguished individuals with a clear insight into the global situation.

The Trilateral Commission was co-founded in New York in 1973 by the wealthy American banker and philanthropist David Rockefeller, and Zbigniew Brzezinski, advisor to the then US president Jimmy Carter. It was established as a result of a disagreement between the Bilderberg Group and its member Rockefeller on whether Japan should be admitted to the club.

The Trilateral Commission was established for a term of three years with an aim to foster closer economic and political cooperation of US and Canada with Europe and Japan. It operates as a kind of an international foreign affairs council, renewing its mandate every three years - currently until 2015.

In addition to the concentrated political power, the core of this organization is capital. As a result, the Trilateral Commission brings together officials of the World Bank, European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund and most major international banks.

It also advocates for the interests of multinational companies.

Although the Commission's actions were always discreet, they also included the media, that is, top media officials who were allowed to attend the meetings on condition that nothing of what they heard could be released to the public, even unofficially.

What the public was able to learn about the “world plan” is that the Trilateral Commission intends to consolidate and control the four centers of power: political, monetary, intellectual and spiritual, all in the interest of creating a more peaceful and productive global community.

The European group originally comprised the West European countries, members of the then European Economic Community. As the EEC expanded, new members joined the Commission.

Croatia joined the Trilateral Commission in 2012, and as of last year, Serbia is its youngest member. Along with Norway, Serbia is also the only country in the European group that is not an EU member state.

"Region's EU path"

The upcoming meeting of the European branch of the Trilateral Commission, set to open in Belgrade on Friday, will bring together participants from all European countries, who will discuss the progress of the entire region on the path towards EU accession, says Tahir Hasanović, president of the organising committee of the European Trilateral Conference in Belgrade.

The 38th conference of the Trilateral Commission, which ends on November 2, will be opened by Jean-Claude Trichet, chairman of the Commission's European branch, Jovan Kovačić, chairman of the Serbian National Group in the Trilateral Commission and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, Hasanović said in a statement to Tanjug on Thursday.

"Besides the Serbian prime minister, the panel about the region will be attended by Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik," Hasanović said.

The participants come from all European countries, while 165 members of the Trilateral Commission - statesmen, former political leaders, bankers, presidents of the largest companies and large business entrepreneurs - are also confirmed to attend, he said.

"Unfortunately, despite an invitation from the Trilateral Commission, (Kosovo President) Ms. (Atifete) Jahjaga announced just today that she is not ready to come to Belgrade, but we are expecting the other regional leaders who have accepted the invitation," Hasanović said.

The conference will address several important topics related to the progress of the entire region on the path towards EU accession, as well as Russian-Ukrainian relations and apparent European efforts to end the crisis peacefully, he said.

Also discussed will be energy security and other global issues assessed by the global Trilateral Commission, he said.

Speaking about the impact of the Trilateral Commission, Hasanović said that, since 1973, it has been making a significant influence on global financial and economic trends because it is comprised of prominent people who are able to assess global development.
