BELGRADE Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Presidency members have agreed that the local-self governments should be changed in accordance with the republic model. This is according to SPS top official Zarko Obradovic. SPS: Local self-governments should be changed The SPS Presidency meeting was held on Saturday afternoon. “The Presidency agrees that the government is doing a good job, that there is a team spirit but that there are also problems that need to be solved – a large deficit that was made six months ago and the other problems are new jobs and making sure that there are no layoffs. We also discussed what awaited Serbia on its EU pathway,” Obradovic told B92. “We also said that it was logical to restructure the ruling majorities in accordance with the republic model. This goes for Novi Sad and other local self-governments where there is a majority that can be formed in accordance with the republic model. We agree that it should happen but it is nothing unusual, we did it four years ago as well,” he added. Obradovic said that Prime Minister Ivica Dacic would go to Brussels soon where he would discuss the country’s EU pathway, EU membership and the dialogue with Pristina. When asked whether the ruling structures in the Belgrade city assembly would be changed in accordance with the republic model, Obradovic said: “No, we still have not discussed Belgrade.” The SPS Presidency meeting was held behind closed doors and Dacic did not want to give any statements.
