Hacker collective Anonymous have announced that they will organize to "kill" Facebook on November 5. "Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed," a person who said they represented Anonymous said in a YouTube video. Hacktivist collective out to "kill" Facebook They added they would join forces with other hacktivists with the goal of bringing down the social networking giant, and that the action would be staged "for the good of privacy" - and in order to protect freedom of information. French daily Nouvelle Observateur writes today that the message posted by Anonymous also accused Facebook of selling the data collected from users to government agencies. Facebook also enabled access to security companies in the business of "spying on people", Anonymous said, according to the report. Facebook is yet to react to the Anonymous announcement.
