A weapons and explosives trafficking chain has been cut in a joint operation of the Security-Information Agency (BIA) and French security services. The weapons were smuggled from the Balkans to France, according to a BIA statement, which added that 10 persons were arrested. Arms smugglers arrested The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Special Prosecution for Organized Crime and police arrested seven suspects in Cacak and Kraljevo, while three persons were arrested in Paris. “Large amount of automatic weapons have also been seized, both in France and in our country,” BIA Director Chief of Staff Jovan Stojic stated. He explained that the public would be informed of the details of the operation after the investigation has been completed. “Further intensive activities of Serbian and French security services on arresting the remaining members of the international criminal group are ongoing, along with cooperation between the judicial authorities of Serbia and France,” according to the BIA statement. Special Prosecutor for Organized Crime Miljko Radisavljevic explained that the operation to cut off the international automatic arms and explosives trafficking channel is a result of cooperation and the exchange of information between Serbian and French security services and prosecutions. He also mentioned that the seized weapons and explosives had been discovered in a Serbian truck.
