A man died last night in Podgorica after he was wounded in a shooting in the seaside town of Kotor, Montenegro, said reports. The victim has been identified as Dragan Dudic. The media also said that the victim was known as a “close associate and business partner” of Darko Saric. Saric, a Montenegrin traveling on a Serbian passport, is a fugitive accused in Serbia of organizing a shipment of 2.7 tons of cocaine intercepted last year. The drugs were being smuggled to Europe from South America. Police in Montenegro yesterday identified Ivan Vracar from Niksic as Dudic's killer. Dudic was shot while he was sitting in a local cafe in Kotor. The shooter, who was attacked by Dudic's friends while he was trying to escape, was also seriously injured, police said. The victim is described as a “businessman”, who co-owned a nightclub in Kotor, while reports said that the Montenegrin prosecution “scrutinized his companies”, on suspicion he was involved in laundering the cocaine trafficking money.
