The government has yet to receive information from Interpol or confirmation on the identities of those killed in a Bolivian drug-related shooting. Bolivian media reported over the weekend that three Serbian citizens were killed in a shootout between drug dealers. IM: No information on Bolivian drug murders Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said in Kragujevac this Wednesday that there were “three names in question” but that it was possible that it was a case of stolen or mistaken identity. The three Serbians were reportedly part of a drug group’s security team. “For now we cannot confirm the identification of the people who lost their lives in Bolivia, taking into consideration that we have not received any information from Bolivian police,” he said. Dacic confirmed that there were many ties between Serbian crime groups and those in South America, especially in the drug trade. “That does not mean that these people in Bolivia were involved, maybe they had some other job in the security, but in any case, many of our crime groups are located in that region,” Dacic said. He added that Serbia wanted to sign cooperation memorandums with police forces of countries in Latin America because of the recent connections between criminal groups from there and those found in the Balkans. The miniser said that such document would be signed with Arab countries, countries from Latin America and the Far East. Dacic added that a new law was being drafted to define physical-technical security, which would deal with the private sector of the security business. Dacic added that the law was an “old topic” because its drafting several years ago, but that it was never finished “since different interests existed”. “There is a fight going on over who will give licenses to these security people, who will train them, and the Interior Ministry (MUP) does not want just anyone to carry weapons in this country without being licensed by the right institution and checked before being allowed to work in the system of private security,” concluded the minister.
