The police have launched an investigation.

The 28-year-old, who was injured during a fight yesterday between Partizan and Toulouse fans in Obiliæev Venac, sustained serious head and chest injuries and is currently in the intensive care unit, said Drago Jovanoviæ from the Clinical Center of Serbia.

French Ambassador Jean Francois Terral, who visited the injured fan in hospital, told reporters that the young man’s family had been informed. Terral said he was happy with the work of the doctors at the clinical center.

After the ambassador's visit, the team of doctors treating the victim decided to transfer him to the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases for surgery.

Another French national injured in the incident has been released from hospital.

The 28-year-old, who was injured during a fight yesterday between Partizan and Toulouse fans in Obiliæev Venac, sustained serious head and chest injuries and is currently in the intensive care unit, said Drago Jovanoviæ from the Clinical Center of Serbia.

“The patient, born in 1981, has been seriously injured. He was admitted conscious and disoriented, upset. He was sent for tests. The scanner showed a skull fracture. His condition has since deteriorated. His vital parameters are declining and he is now on a life-support machine,” said Mirko Kerkez, the head of the team of surgeons.

The other French national and a barman working in the bar where the fight broke out also sustained minor injuries.

“The other patient, born in 1975, also a French national, sustained minor injuries. He has a head injury…He is stable and has also been sent for tests,” Kerkez explained.

Witnesses who spoke to B92 said that the fight had broken out outside the Irish Pub in Obiliæev Venac at about 18:00 CET.

After a verbal exchange, a group of around 30 hooligans set upon 15 or so Toulouse fans who had been sitting outside. The violence then quickly spread to a number of neighboring bars.
