Slovenia’s EU presidency to push innovation, energy

The SBRA's new bulletin quotes Andrijana Starina Kosem, Slovenia's State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy as saying: “Slovenia finds innovation policies extremely important, since they are a key element of socio-economic reforms, which are expected to be a priority during Slovenia's EU Presidency.”

On a practical level, Slovenia will aim to make innovation policies a priority at European level, speed up the innovation process, enhance cooperation between the main innovation players, and improve knowledge transfer to and from the education system.

State Secretary Starina Kosem has also highlighted the importance of the protection of intellectual property, and called for the adoption of an 'efficient and cost-effective patent for the protection of intellectual property', according to the SBRA.

Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak has also said that the functioning of the internal energy market, stability of energy supply and a treaty creating an energy community in South East Europe will also be Slovenian priorities, says the SBRA.
