An strong earthquake, centered about 35 miles southeast of Reykjavik, shook Iceland Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The tremor, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, struck shortly before 4 p.m. and was reportedly felt nationwide. 6.2 quake strikes Iceland CNN reported an as-yet undetermined number of injuries but no fatalities were immediately reported. Damage to roads and buildings also was reported. "It was a little bit like you're sleeping in a waterbed, you know ... everything floats around," Alti Mar Gylfason told CNN. "This is not something we experience on a normal basis." Iceland's last previous major quake struck eight years ago.
